Jeremy Cowart, Photographer, G-Tech

Jeremy has taken portraits of many familiar names such as Taylor Swift, Tim Tebow, The Kardashians, Sting, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Heidi Klum, Gwyneth Paltrow, The Civil Wars, Emma Stone, Courtney Cox, and Ryan Seacrest, just to name a few. His clients, mostly entertainment based, include ABC, FOX, A&E, F/X, Discovery Channel, ESPN, People, US Weekly, VIBE, E!, Universal Records, Sony Records and Warner Brothers Records. His work has been published in Rolling Stone, ESPN Magazine, People Magazine, USA Today, Fast Company, NYTimes, TIME, Nylon and more.

There’s always something interesting going on in Jeremy’s world. His humanitarian projects have been featured on CNN.com as international leading headlines twice, he shot the cover of Tim Tebow’s NY Times best-selling autobiography, and he recently starred in an episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Jeremy is something of a social media/technology guru. He’s a featured user on Google+ with over a million followers, he won the Celebrity TwitChange campaign last year that raised thousands of dollars to fight global poverty, and he’s currently working on his first iPhone app to be released Summer 2012.

Photography has taken Jeremy to six continents. He traveled with Britney Spears in 2009 as her “Circus World Tour” photographer, documented seventeen countries with the Passion World Tour in 2008, and has been on numerous trips to Africa and Haiti with various organizations. From all his travels, Jeremy has released 3 Photography books, “Hope in the Dark“, “The Poor Will Be Glad” and “Awakening“, and he’s currently working on a 4th new book, “What’s Your Mark?” with Zondervan Publishers due out Fall 2012.

Jeremy also spends his time on community projects, brainstorming innovative ways to use his camera to make an impact. In January 2010, after the devastating earthquake in Haiti, Jeremy responded with his “Voices of Haiti” photo essay, letting the people of Haiti write their own thoughts and prayers on found rubble. This project was displayed prominently at the entrance of a very important gathering of world leaders at the United Nations in March of 2010. They were meeting to discuss the rebuild of Haiti and they ended up pledging ten billion dollars to the effort. On that day, Jeremy’s “Voices of Haiti” project proved that art can help change the world.

Knowing the value that a photograph can have in just one person’s life, Jeremy also founded Help-Portrait, a worldwide movement of photographers using their time, equipment, and expertise to give back to those less fortunate. On December 12, 2009, the first world-wide Help-Portrait event provided free portraits for over 40,000 people in 42 Countries. Those numbers have increased significantly over the last 2 years, with 169,523 photos given to date in at least 56 countries. Help-Portrait continues to grow, encouraging all photographers to use their platform to make a difference with their cameras.

Lastly, Jeremy’s speaking and teaching career has taken off as he spends his time annually traveling around the country speaking at conferences like TEDx, Catalyst Conference, Photoshop World, WPPI, Google Plus Photographers Conference, Photo Plus Expo and many more. He has also hosted 2 of his own LifeFinder Tour’s that have taken him all across the country. His LifeFinder Tour is based on his educational DVD, LifeFinder. Jeremy is also an instructor for Scott Kelby’s “Kelby Training” and has released 3 classes on the Kelby Training website.

Bouncing back and forth between Nashville and LA, Jeremy draws a lot of inspiration from his amazing wife, Shannon, and their two ridiculously cute and utterly fantastic kids, Adler and Eisley. They also have a dog and a cat, but they are not as inspirational.

Jonathan Marks, Photographer, Jonathan Marks Fine Art

As a skinny kid with short hair, long legs, and the inability to ever enter the 7-11 store near his home again after trying unsuccessfully to steal balloons at the age of 12, Jonathan discovered photography as a means of expressing himself during his awkward early teens.  Since then he’s filled out (well, a little!), his hair has grown (a lot), he’s mastered the art of balloon animals (more or less), and his photographic style has developed to the point of becoming a well known visual storyteller/artist with his iPhone. His work is guided by a feeling the moment he captures the initial image, be it a person, a place or a thing, and while always grounded in reality, his final creations are embellished by his vivid imagination and myriad iPhone Apps.

Having started his own licensed music and entertainment apparel business in the mid-1980′s working with internationally renowned acts ranging from the Beatles and the Grateful Dead (for whom he was the first to ever merchandise the iconic Dancing Bears), to the Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley, Gibson Guitar and Madonna, Jonathan built his business up to a multi-million dollar international success story. With boundless energy devoted to the creativity desired in the designs he produced, the pursuit of the licensing rights needed to market and sell his full line of adult and children’s apparel and accessories, and with his “never take no” for an answer attitude, Jonathan’s business grew both domestically and internationally, gaining a level of notoriety in Japan normally reserved for actors and musicians of worldwide acclaim. What emerged as a result of this travel around the globe and the fact that every trip he took found him accompanied by his assorted pro camera gear was a passion for capturing his travels photographically in a most unique and creative manner. Where others saw mundane Jonathan captured magic. Where others shot quickly Jonathan captured quietude. Indeed, from his travels the artist within emerged.

Many years later and now having shot for private commissions, commercial clients, and fine art with his 35mm and medium format equipment, Jonathan has more recently developed an uncanny way of capturing and processing images exclusively with his Apple iPhone in such a manner as to allow the viewer an opportunity to see his creative, unique, and somewhat introspective take on the world around him, from the mundane to the magical, the absurd to the banal, and always with an eye toward balance between his sense of aesthetics and the technique used to communicate this. Regardless of the subject matter Jonathan finds that every image has a voice and emotion, a feeling associated with it that if given the opportunity, will emerge with honesty and sincerity.

Be it with his iPhone or his 35mm/medium format equipment, Jonathan is versed in all types of shoots and productions and is available for private commissions, commercial, advertising, and editorial assignments, and yes, even weddings, though be forewarned he does have a predilection for breaking out in an uncontrollable urge to dance.

Jonathan’s work has been exhibited in the US and Japan and is in private collections in the US, Canada, Europe, and Japan. Additionally, Jonathan is currently seeking gallery representation and licensing opportunities in all categories with an emphasis on limited edition prints and paper goods.

For more information or to speak with Jonathan about licensing, iPhone photography presentations and/or leading seminars around the world, he can be reached at www.jonathanmarksfineart.com.

Mitchell Waite, CEO, Mitch Waite Group

Mitch Waite is a best selling author of computer books, former CEO of the Mitch Waite Press publishing group, and developer of iBird Explorer, the award-winning app for the iPhone and iPod touch. His 30-year career on the leading edge of computing technology is characterized by a continual quest for knowledge, a desire to inform others, and a practical ability to turn his discoveries into commercial success.

In 1979, after building a weather station using an Apple I computer purchased from Steve Jobs’ garage, Mitch hosted a curious Steve on his Sausalito houseboat and was asked to write about a new computer from Apple. The Computer Graphics Primer, featuring the new Apple II computer, became a best seller. This was followed by a string of best selling primers, bibles and how-to computer programming books, including the C Primer Plus, Turbo C++ Bible, Visual Basic How To, Windows API Bible, and Fractal Creations. Some of these titles became evergreen classics that are still used today for teaching computer programming.

After 15 years writing and developing books on cutting edge technologies, Mitch saw computer books become a commodity market. He sold his publishing company to Simon and Shuster and turned his focus to his other passion, nature.

As a long time birder, Mitch found the lack of intelligence in conventional field guides frustrating. Using only the table of contents and index of a book to identify species was difficult. Determining that this was a problem technology could solve, Mitch developed whatbird.com, a free online resource to help birders identify species. Whatbird.com featured an innovative and patented Web-based search engine (U. S. patent number 7,363,309). The search engine was unique in providing a step-by-step parametric approach that always provided the user with a result, and it drew rave reviews.

Having helped millions of people search and identify birds online, Mitch was determined to give birders access to this information in the field, where they needed it the most. By harnessing the power of new mobile computing technology and combining it with the capabilities of whatbird.com, he would be able to add intelligence to an 800-year old page turning technology called books. At the same time, he could help stop the devastating environmental damage being caused by the production of paper.

Winged Explorer for the Windows Mobile platform was developed, using the search principles and core content from WhatBird.com. The success of Apple’s mobile computing devices prompted Mitch to port Winged Explorer to the new platforms. The iBird Explorer series of iPhone and iPod touch based electronic field guides became instant best sellers.

iBird Explorer has been hailed by industry analysts as having cracked the code for successful eBooks (Ned May, Finally, an eBook Worth Reading, January 2008). It has been featured in multiple Apple TV commercials, has won the prestigious MacWorld 2009 App Gem award for best reference app, and was selected by Apple as one of the top 25 apps of 2009.

With nine iBird Explorer apps in the Apple iTunes app store, and more apps in the pipeline, Mitch continues to push into new territory coupling nature and technology. The Google Android and Palm Pre platforms further stretch the horizon for mobile computing and provide new opportunities for Mitch create intelligent books that don’t damage the environment.”

His works have been featured locally and globally, including “Pixels at an Exhibition: The Giorgi Gallery Show”, the first EYE’EM Berlin exhibit, and the first “Pixels at Apple” shows.

“I grew up around photography. When I was a kid, my dad and I would process Kodak Plus-X Pan that we’d shot in the bathroom after dark. Later in school, photography was something I took throughout junior high and high school.

“I’ve been shooting with an iPhone since I got my 2G in June of 2008. I loved the digital lo-fi qualities of the camera — the color qualities and the noise the 2G added to an image. I love how the iPhone’s camera is practically invisible. You can get the camera places that you cant do with other cameras without affecting the subject or the scene. Most recently, I’ve been shooting with an iPhone 5, but I still shoot occasionally with the 2G.”
